Nanny learns about the bi-election and Arthur's potential involvement. Rosemary encourages Arthur to stand for parliament, but Mrs. Hedges attempts to dissuade him for very personal reasons. After failing to disinterest Penelope in Layford, Geoffery sends her to Cannes for an intimate Christmas. Gates tells Mrs. Gates about his new friend from the pub.
